If you've got a hankering for a pair of basic blues, you may find everything that looks old is what's new again.The
1970s appear to be a strong stylistic influence for many designers,
while others seem inspired by the neon and acid-washed finishes and
hues of the '80s."Coloured denim is bold and fun -- wear
coloured denim pants, skirts, shorts and jackets as accent pieces with
simple tops, or mix and match the colours," says Jason Trotzuk,
designer and president of Fidelity Denim."You can't go wrong because it's a fashion-anti-fashion statement,"White denim is also back as a summer staple."Pair
white jeans with flats, a colourful top and cute accessories for a
great, no-fuss, summer look," says Rod Van Straten, a Levi's
spokesperson.The distressed, faded look returns, complete with
tattered holes, rips and even bleach spots, says women's wear buyer
Genia Albi of Over the Rainbow, a well-established denim shop in
Toronto.
Other new takes on the
celebrity-driven style include cropped boyfriend jeans and mid-thigh
length roll-up shorts with a slightly slouched fit.Ultra-skinny
jeans with so-called "cigarette" leg styling are also edging into style
in some designer collections such as DVB by Victoria Beckham."The
denim mood of the season is shaping up to be a little more slim and

Victoria Beckham enlists new team to revamp dVb jeans company


Having branched into fashion, Victoria Beckham sensibly enlists the
help of established fashionistas to ensure she is a success.Roland Mouret famously assisted the former Spice Girl with her debut
dress collection, and now a new team has been drafted in to help her
relaunch dVb Denim.
Says a spy: ‘One of the girls is a denim
specialist. Victoria makes out she’s hands-on, but she doesn’t sit
there cutting patterns.’Posh fell out with the boss of Rock
& Republic when she collaborated with the label, and came under
fire for using cheap fabrics in her latest designs. A spokesman for Victoria said: ‘There is a new production team for the denim line. It will launch next year.’

Los Angeles - Victoria Beckham's sense of style has been questioned by a top designer.

French clothing guru Christian Audigier claims the former Spice Girls singer - who now works as a fashion designer, and released her latest range of dresses at New York Fashion Week earlier this year - is in a difficult position as she has no formal training.

He explained to BANG Showbiz: "Victoria, I'm not sure about. I like her, she's a nice girl, but she is not completely my style.

"I have seen some of her designs - they are very simple. It's difficult for an artist or a singer to enter into the world of fashion.

"They need to be with a real pro because you can't just rely on your name to help you sell. The way to sell and who to sell to and what you want to accomplish, these are all things you will need help with if you're entering into the world."

Despite being unsure of Victoria's fashion credentials, Christian - who is behind the Ed Hardy and Von Dutch brands - was glowing about her soccer star husband David.

He enthused: "I believe David Beckham has amazing style, he has this British and European twist with him. And he always dresses himself, picks everything himself.

"He can wear so many things well, whether it is shirts, a T-shirt with boxer shorts, or alternatively the Armani advert he did recently - he just looks great. He has a great attitude, I just love it.

"He is a real tough guy with his style, very English, like a Guy Ritchie movie or something like that, I like that."

¿Qué puede haber mejor para un diseñador que quiere
impulsar su carrera que una reconocida top model luzca sus diseños? Que
se lo pregunten a Victoria Beckham, que debe estar encantada después de
que la supermodelo australiana Elle McPherson haya elegido uno de sus
vestidos para su última aparición televisiva.
El 'cuerpo', como se conoce popularmente a Elle, se
encuentra actualmente en Nueva York rodando la que será la próxima
producción de la CBS. En 'The Beautiful Life', que así es como se
titula la serie, la top comparte protagonismo con Mischa Burton.
Esta semana McPherson apareció en plató con uno de los
exclusivos modelos diseñados por Victoria Beckham, un conjunto que
cuesta nada más y nada menos que 2. 500 euros. La 'Spice pija' que
aspira a convertirse en una aclamada diseñadora, lució el mismo
modelito hace dos semanas en Londres.
Es la segunda vez que Elle elige una prenda creada por
la mujer de David Beckham para un acto público. El pasado mes de mayo,
la supermodelo lució en una fiesta en la que se promocionaba la serie
en la que trabaja, un vestido negro valorado en 1. 740 euros y que,
todo sea dicho, le sentaba como un guante.
La ex Spice ya había presentado este elegante vestido
durante el show que su buen amigo, el también diseñador Marc Jacobs,
ofreció en la Semana de la Moda de Nueva York el pasado mes de
septiembre.
McPherson también es una triunfadora en esto del diseño
pues ya hace 19 años que creó su existosa firma de ropa interior. Por
este motivo sus propios compatriotas la declararon 'Empresaria del año
de Australia' . Lo cierto es que la espectacular modelo convierte en
oro todo lo que toca.
Quizás ésta logre trasladarle algo de esta suerte a la ex Spice para que se convierta en una reconocida diseñadora.

It’s clear Victoria Beckham’s latest dress collection has become one of the successes of the season. But instead of resting on her laurels and enjoying her success, Victoria
is set on expanding her design empire. (Well this is a woman who’s
clocked up 100,500 air miles this year alone, so she doesn’t exactly
sit still.) She’s rumoured to
have met with a few chosen designers, who can help her create a luxury,
‘classic but contemporary’ handbag line. Her people insist there’s
nothing specific confirmed at present but that, as with any developing
label, Victoria is looking into a number of different areas. Now we’re thinking that, since she’s got an extensive, £1.5m Hermès collection, bags are the obvious step. But we’d also love to see Victoria working on lingerie, given her Emporio Armani experience (is that why she quit working
with the Italian maestro?) and some sky-scraper style heels. Let’s hope
those ideas are bubbling away in her South London studio, where she’s
just popped in to put the finishing touches to her S/S ’10 dress
collection that will be shown at New York Fashion Week.

What it’s REALLY like to wear a VB dress




We have been fans of the Victoria Beckham dress
line ever since they debuted earlier this year. And we aren’t the only
ones: they have an A-list following and regularly sell out as soon as
they hit stores – they only hung around Selfridges for a couple of days
before they were all snatched up. But no-one wears them better than VB
herself, with her super-svelte figure and super-high heels. Over the
last few weeks as she’s appeared around the US
filming American Idol, she’s been showcasing a number of her AW ’09
designs, from the bustier Giral dress to the now infamous Carmontelle –
which has also been seen on Elle Macpherson. But what’s it like to
actually wear a Victoria Beckham dress? Well, as we had some sample
dresses in the office for a story we’re doing in the magazine, we
decided to quickly slip the Carmontelle on. Well, we say quickly but it
took longer than we thought – and we needed some help to zip it up, but
once on, well, wow! The fit is amazing. It is cut so well that it hugs
the body and instantly improves posture – no chance of slouching in
this dress, no wonder VB always looks straight as a board. She
describes them as 'modern' CHECK, 'luxury' CHECK and ‘workaday’
HMM…that means Vic thinks that these dresses are suitable for everyday.
Now, while walking around the office lapping up compliments was one
thing, sitting at a desk to type was almost impossible. The thought of
popping out to Covent Garden to buy lunch, running (or even walking quickly) to a meeting was a definite no-no. Work wear – maybe Victoria’s
work, but not ours for sure. But if ever we had a £2,095 to spend on an
amazing cocktail dress – where sitting wasn’t required – this would be

Victoria Beckham presented her third collection at New York Fashion Week today and acknowledged that the industry was now taking her seriously as a designer.

“I know I used to be in a pop group and I’m married to a footballer – a very lovely footballer,” she said.


“But I’m grateful that people are prepared to leave their preconceptions at the door and let the dresses speak for themselves. The sell-through has been amazing.”

The success of Mrs Beckham’s bid to be accepted as a serious fashion designer is underscored by the gilt-edged cast of celebrities and high-profile women who have been photographed in her figure-hugging LBDs from her current autumn/winter collection, including Madonna, Brooke Shields, Elle Macpherson, Katherine Jenkins, Tana Ramsay and the American actress, Leighton Meester, who recently filmed scenes for the US TV series, ‘Gossip Girl', in a VB scarlet 'Carmontelle' peplum dress.

For spring/summer 2010, Victoria Beckham revealed she is putting legs on show, but cutting back on the cleavage.

“I think it looks more attractive, and it’s what my customers want.”

While the breasts are defined, the inbuilt corsets are cut higher, a modesty ploy which is counterbalanced by the fact some hemlines are mid-thigh.

Her key look remains a second-skin sheath, both knee-length and grazing the floor for red carpet moments, in cerise, raspberry, black or grey, with an inbuilt corset, a visible zip snaking down the spine, and exaggerated shoulder pads -“they make your waist look so much smaller,” she said.

But she has raised hems to mini and micro proportions and also injected a more girlie silhouette by means of a flirty full skirt, in cerise, grey, azure, or black silk crepe and metallicised gazar, and see-through black, hand-crocheted French lace.

“It does come with a black underdress, which means you really get two dresses for the price of one (£3,900), or you can wear it with a black bra and knickers, which is the way I’d wear it.” she said.

Other developments in the new collection include the use of stretch-jersey and spray-paint style, airbrush prints in violet, orange and navy on sarong-style micro-dresses.

Victoria Beckham has been promoting her line with in-store “trunk shows” at Neiman-Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman in New York and at Selfridges in London. She plans a second PA soon at Harrods in Knightsbridge.

She is also hoping to attend London Fashion Week if her husband David Beckham is not playing and is available for babysitting duties.

Fashion houses like handbag firm Hermès get a huge sales boost whenever she is snapped with their goods.

Football ace hubby DAVID has offered to build her a huge design workshop in Beckingham Palace, Herts, when they return to the UK.

A friend said: "Victoria is tired of promoting other brands. If she wears Christian Louboutin or Hermès people go and buy it.

"She thought, 'Why can't I do this with my own line?'

"Her VB collection has gone down a storm across the celebrity world. If this is repeated with her line of shoes, the range would be worth an absolute fortune.

"It is feasible that after David retires she could become the main breadwinner in the Beckham house."

Victoria, 35, already has lines in dresses, eyewear and denim, with accessories to be announced soon.

Stars like JENNIFER LOPEZ and ELLE MACPHERSON have been snapped wearing a VB design.
